Badam halva is a mouth watering delicious sweet. In this recipe, Mrs.Jhansi used badam, whole milk and little food colour. This is very easy to prepare. Here are the step by step instructions.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Soaking time (badam): 2-3 hours
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Main ingredient: Badam
Serves: 3-4
1 bowl measurement: 200 ml
Ingredients
Soaked badam: 1 bowl
Boiled whole milk: 1 & 1/2 bowl
Food colour: a pinch
Corn flour: 1/2 bowl
Cardamom: 4
Sugar: 1 and 1/2 bowl (adjust according to sweetness required)
Water: 1 & 1/2 bowl
Clarified butter (ghee): 2 tbsp
Procedure
Grease the plate with ghee and keep it aside
Add a pinch of food colour (we used green) to 1/2 bowl milk. Keep it aside
Lightly blend soaked badam with 2-3 tbsp cooled boiled milk (it should not become a paste). Keep it aside
Step 1: Add and boil 1 & 1/2 bowl sugar to 1 & 1/2 bowl water in high flame
Step 2: Add 1 tbsp milk to sugar syrup when melted, doing so milk will absorb the dirt present in sugar
Filter it and boil the syrup up to 5 minutes in high flame, then add cardamom powder with out its skin
Step 3: Add 1/2 bowl milk to badam paste and slowly add badam milk to sugar syrup by stirring it continuously for 1 minute in high flame
Then add 1 tbsp ghee to it and cook for 1 minute
Step 4: Add the coloured milk to boiling syrup
Step 5: Add 1/2 bowl corn flour to remaining milk
Mix well and add to cooking mixture. Let it cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes till halva gets closer
Step 6: Add 1 tbsp clarified butter (ghee) to halva, mix it once
Turn off the flame and keep it on a greased plate
Sweet and tasty badam halva is ready :)
Can consume it hot or can make into pieces
For pieces, let the halva come to room temperature and cut it to desired shapes
